Tom Coulter
Chancellor
Tom has over thirty years of corporate experience, primarily in executive-level financial management
positions. He retired as Senior Director, Business Operations for Amtrak. He was responsible for financial
control of a $2.1 billion construction project, and his accomplishments there included designing and
implementing a cost management system and designing a course to train labor-union personnel in profitability
analysis and project management.
Since retiring and moving south to Tennessee, Tom has worked as an investment advisor and helped start up
a small business conglomerate. He is Board President of Trinity Health Ministries, Inc., which operates a
dental clinic for needy adults in his community.
The responsibilities that Tom had and the level of his success is all very impressive, but the real reason why
we are excited that Tom is our new Chancellor for Knight’s Business Institute is that he has a great passion to
help other people. He takes extra time to assist people, and wants to give himself to others who can use his
skills. He is a people person and not ashamed to admit his deep love for God.
Tom is a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science in Transportation. He also is a
graduate of the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business with an MBA in Finance.
